The goal of the mentoring program is to provide academic support, one - on - one mentoring and leadership development to at- risk youth. According to Charity Guide, when kids have a positive role model and mentor over the course of a year, they are 46% less likely to skip school. As a result of a positive relationship with a mentor, a decrease may be noticeable in suspensions, truancy, behavioral problems, or drug related incidents.The mentoring program incorporates the Six Pillars of Character Education: Responsibility, Integrity, Honesty, Respect, Kindness and Compassion. |
